Focus Mode is a deep-dive menu into a player character’s psyche, health, as well as capabilities (skills).
Inside the Focus Mode, a player is able to see the current distribution of their traits, as well as select new Interests over multiple Life Stages, and be rewarded with Perks if they complete an Interest in time.
Additionally, the player is also able to explore all skills that their character may have, see progress on new skills, and more.
Connect
Before the Focus Mode was introduced, SEED was lacking the time to properly connect with the player’s Seedlings. Focus Mode allows players to dive deep – accompany them throughout their life stages, choose Interests and harvest the Perks they gain from fully satisfying those Interests, check on their Physical and Psychological Health, and check up on their current Skills.
Surface
Focus Mode brings a lot of opportunity to surface information which was otherwise barely surfaced, or not at all. Dividing a Seedling’s information into different tabs allows all important points of information to be neatly displayed and most of the time even allows the player to dive in even deeper, read up on different features, choose a unique path for their Seedling’s development, etc.
I took over the initial designs from another UI/UX designer and assisted throughout implementation via various iterations.
