Hey there! I'm Nikolas!

About Me

I am a creative and resourceful designer with a collaborative work ethic. My skills include UI/UX design and prototyping, system design through rapid prototyping, combat encounter design for first- and third-person titles and technical design with the help of scripting languages and node-based scripting systems. Additionally, I pride myself in my ability to maintain efficient documentation and facilitate cross-department communication.

Experience & Education

Work on Rainbow Six Siege in the Long Term Progression cell:

  • work within a small team to concept, design and ship gameplay systems that support the game’s longevity and engange players for a long time, such as:
    • Locker
      Siege’s own inventory system, allowing players to browse their entire collection of items, manage them by adding them to favorites, and browsing their latest acquiried items.
    • Badges
      A new way to display your achievements during the game, badges add new challenges which unlock unique badges which can be displayed on your operator card and can be tiered up to unlock higher-value badge versions.
    • Career
      Your one-stop shop to find everything on your player journey: stats, match replays, reputation, etc. – the Career screen will add an overview over all of these features and more.

Work on Off The Grid, a revolutionary third-person battle royale set in a cyberpunk world:

  • desing, prototype and own various 3C systems
  • design the entire weapon system (weapon classes, recoil, spread, attachments, etc.)
  • design and execute the production pipeline for weapons
  • be a co-feature team owner for the weapons team (2 programmers, 4 artists, 1 animator, 2 designers)
  • design various economy systems related to weapons
  • script gameplay abilities with Unreal Engine Blueprints and Gameplay Ability System
  • learn the fundamentals of programming, art and game design
  • later specialize in UI/UX, as well as System Design
  • write a Bachelor thesis about Combat Design in third-person melee action games

Other Fun Stuff about Me

Outside of work, I like to play boardgames like “Warhammer: Age of Sigmar” and other traditional boardgames (Monopoly, etc.)

Of course, I also love to play video games (Action Adventures & Shooters are my favorites!) and since I never stop learning new things, I also love to work on personal side-projects, trying out new ideas and improving my skills in various fields.

Additionally, I consider myself somewhat of a Gin connoisseur and always love trying out new recipes when cooking.

Oh – and I am also a huge nerd over Star Wars!
