SEED Discord Integration chat interface

Discord Integration - SEED

DisclaimerFeatures may differ visually between design and final implementation.

About

My first project at Klang Games was a redesign of SEED’s in-game chat system. Players use it for direct conversations as well as group chats with friends, businesses, and larger communities.

SEED uses Discord’s Social SDK as the messaging backend. My role was to design the in-game experience around it, including sending and receiving messages, finding and adding friends, creating groups, and managing conversations without leaving the game.

Goals & Objectives

Integrate into the Game

Although Discord provides the underlying functionality, the experience needed to feel native to SEED. I adapted chat windows to the game’s design system and shaped them around our needs, from helping players understand one another’s play styles to supporting society chats with more than 1,000 members.

Utilize SDK Powers

Discord maintains clear guidelines for hierarchy, iconography, and color. I studied those standards closely and applied them to friend controls, group layouts, Rich Presence, and message states. Messages sent through Discord use a distinct blue treatment so their origin remains immediately recognizable.

Feature Demo

I designed the complete UI and UX, authored the user stories and custom iconography, and supported implementation and QA testing throughout development.
