MONO started because of a project I worked on in my first semester of university.
In this project, I worked on a mobile choose-your-own-adventure game with a similar visual style - only in 2D pixel art. Afterwards, I attempted to work on a 2D top-down adventure in the same style and universe I built for my semester project, but now, I wanted to create a 3D game out of it.
My goal was to keep the style I developed - pitch black background (no shading, no real skybox) and only system colours, such as white, light grey, dark grey, light pink, dark pink (you get the idea) to inform the player of different components. White elements would always be static, whereas coloured objects would be interactable (i.e. destroyable, pickups, or enemies).
Development of MONO is not far yet, but some art tests have been done already. You can see some of those below!
